"Apathy Under Wasted Sky" - Mimas
In late 2002 icelandic born singer/guitarist Snævar Albertsson joined forces with guitarist Daniel Malling Beck to start carving out the musical ideas within them. Even at this very early stage, the general idea was to create a firmly honest sound and a musical feel that was based wholeheartedly on their emotions, as opposed to a superficial outward expression. After a breif period of rehearsing, the group counted five members and settled on the name Mimas. The constellation remains to this day:

Snævar Njáll Albertsson – Vocals/guitars
Lasse Dahl Christensen – Drums and choir
Gert Hoberg Jørgensen – Bass and choir
Kenn Hedegaard Eskildsen - Keyboards and choir
Daniel Malling Beck - Guitar and choir

The group quickly grew a reputation in the local scene. Being one young band in a crowd of houndreds, Mimas was fortunate to get many opportunities to play around Aarhus and eventually the rest of the country. The reason for this was mainly their ability to seize chances and not being too picky about where to play. The band toured the country at a surprisingly early stage in their career as a result of this and gained a sizeable following. As their catalogue got more and more extensive, Mimas decided to record their music for the first time. Early studiorecordings were completed, but it was not until 2005s Hands Will Carry that they truly found their style and captured the soul of their liveshow on tape. The 28 minute EP brought new opportunities for Mimas. A tour of England was within their grasp, and the record started selling in places like Iceland, England as well as in their homecountry. Good fortune continued to smile on the band when they were offered a bill at that years Roskilde Festival a world reknown music festival, that each year hosts the worlds biggest artists. That day, on the 27th of june 2005, Mimas played before a crowd of 1500 at an open air stage.
After the release of Hands Will Carry the creative juices started flowing for real, and Mimas added several new unreleased songs to their setlist. The new material takes the bands sound even deeper into the atmosphere of melancholia and bittersweet beauty, with their characteristic high vocals and twilight-coloured melodies and rhythms. The new material reveals in great fashion Mimass love for charismatic musical climaxes in their songs and displays their lets be honest somewhat unique ability to do this without falling down the all too obvious hitmaker slope. The songs clearly remain what is important for Mimas and their love for what they do shines through and makes them visible to the naked eye and audible to any ear with love for strong melody and melancholia.

"The evenings most interesting act was the Aarhus-based quitet Mimas. The band has just been at this years Roskilde Festival and one can surely understand why. It was simply spellbinding to witness how the five guys took a hold of the post-rock and painted one cathedral-like sound collage after the other in the, all of a sudden, not so roomy Voxhall."
